GAS PRICES, SHIPPING AND WICKER- As gas prices have recently dropped, we are finding more shipping options available.
- PRIVATE SHIPPER - We utilize the services of a select few private shippers who will carefully blanket wrap and deliver your wicker to your door. We have had good experiences with a couple of private shippers who make the New England to Florida run on a monthly basis. Also, we have just found a couple more shippers who make a West Coast to Florida run on a monthly basis. With the drop in fuel prices, we are enjoying the subsequent reduction in shipping prices.
- UPS has proven to be a good option for smaller items.
- USHIP at USHIP.COM provides another option for shipping. This internet based service allows us (or anyone) to post the details of a shipment. That info is then available to thousands of shippers who have registered to view such info. Those shippers (large or small, corporate or individual) who are interested can then offer a bid for the shipment. There are many factors to consider, but generally shipments to and from active, busy areas get the most and best bids. If the shipment has a flexible time schedule, it will often have better offers. Also, generally, larger orders are more economical than smaller ones. Usually the shippers who bid can provide blanket wrapping, special care, and delivery to your door. The shipping costs have recently dropped somewhat, and are usually significantly less than than those from shipping companies that require that the piece be crated. We are increasing our utilization of this shipping option.
- GREYHOUND PACKAGE EXPRESS - We no longer utilize the services of GPX. They are closing many terminals, raising prices and are non-responsive to our inquiries.
